4 Men Gang-Rape 15-Year-Old Virgin To A Coma In Lagos

Three people have been arrested and one other declared wanted after it came to light that four of them allegedly raped a young girl to a point of coma.

The 15-year-old girl, simply identified as Vivian is currently fighting for her life in a private hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos.

It was revealed that she had gone to to collect lesson notes from her colleague, Tabiola. Tabiola then lured her to a place where three others were waiting to devour her virginity.

As soon as Tabiola walked in with Vivian, the suspects locked her inside a room where they forcefully stripped her naked.

She was then forcefully raped and was abandoned unconscious in a pool of blood

According to a police officer, who gave the name of the three apprehended suspects as Yusuf, Rasheed, Oyedepo,

“When it dawned on the suspects that the girl was unconscious, they abandoned her in the pool of her blood where she would be seen and fled from the community. I believe that the evil guys did not expect the girl to survive.

“Anyway, as the case is, it will take the grace of God and good medical attention for the girl to survive and be normal again. Her pelvic, according to doctor’s report, has been so battered. She was badly injured and she lost too much blood. More so, the girl was a virgin and was forcefully deflowered. I feel for her because she is so devastated and psychologically traumatised.”

Obama’s Secret Service May Keep Chris Brown From Going To Jail

The Secret Service is responsible for Barack Obama alone but singer;   might become their second boss if only one of them testifies in court on November 25 that Chris Brown didn't hit the man who might be sending him behind bars.

According to TMZ, official D.C. documents obtained this morning shows that a witness to the fight [in front of W. Hotel] early Sunday morning told cops he heard the alleged victim tell a D.C. cop that Chris Brown NEVER HIT HIM.

The cop has however DENIED ever even speaking with the witness in question. But get this. A Secret Service agent made contact with D.C. police and told them he happened to be around when the victim told the cop Chris never struck him. The agent says he absolutely heard the victim’s admission to the cop that Chris never struck him.

This is doubly helpful for Chris. In addition to the fact that a Secret Service agent can testify on Chris‘ behalf, the testimony could destroy the credibility of the alleged victim.

So not only could this cause prosecutors to drop the misdemeanor assault case, it could save him from the more serious probation revocation in the Rihanna case — and remember, if the judge revokes Brown‘s probation, he could go to prison for 4 years.

What do you guys think? Does that also mean Chris Brown will not complete his anger management rehab session?

Nigerian Artistes; Here’s Why You Need A Songwriter!

We Nigerian artistes are a funny bunch (I use the term ‘we’ strictly, because one way or the other, every Nigerian is an artiste). We dream of producing good music, having the world scream our songs out, radio stations blaring it from all possible studios, the guys drinking Alomo to it, and the ladies twerking their lives out. We dream of headlining sold-out overcrowded concerts, and getting endorsement deals from MTN, Gulder, Gold Circle, and God himself. But wait!

How amazing is the quality of the song we put out with our name on it?

Is it fabulous, melodious, Alomo-worthy and ‘twerktastic’, or it’s just Pangolo music without the luxury of depth and substance? If it is the latter, then brother, sister, dude, homie, (or whatever you love to be called), you need a song writer to spice that shit up.

Music without good lyrics, is like a Sunday without the Sun

The term ‘Songwriters’, don’t exist because a dumb group of people love to bear fancy names and impress the ladies. They are actually talented individuals with immense God-given skill and talent to sit up at night and create awesome lyrics, the type you love, for you. While collecting your money in return for it. Of course they won’t do it for free, that’s their hustle.

They add depth, spice, conviction, twist, and class to whatever you put out as music. A good songwriter can provide the needed ‘jump’ to transform your beat into a world-beater. Even if you do Pangolo music (or Afro-Pop, as we love to deceive ourselves), an infusion of good lyrics, will definitely make your song sound a lot more fit for human consumption.

The stars we worship, the P-Square, 2face, R-Kelly, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and all of them other musical demi-gods, they use a talented songwriting service. That’s why they have you as their number one worshipper. And it’s the not-so-obvious reason why they’re legends.

A song without good lyrics is like a Sunday without the Sun. If it has a good beat, it thrills, people dance and sweat, but when they wipe off their sweat, they also wipe away your song from their minds. Their sweat, your song, both wiped off them. How pathetic. You never can wipe out “Street Credibility” by2face and 9ice. It sticks like a chocolate bar to a fat girl. Like earthworms to rainy season, and like stink to a fat lazy pig!

Get a songwriter today, get on the right track to ‘blowing’. It’s the only way!

There can be no peace without dialogue – Jonathan

Blaming the slow rate of economic development in the country on several crisis being experienced in parts of Nigeria, the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan said the challenges has disrupted the growth of the economy.

According to President Jonathan, it was out of place for anyone to talk about economic development in a troubled society, when it is common knowledge that for any given economy to develop, there must be internal democracy and stability.

President Jonathan stated this while receiving the 2013 Africa Peace Award from the United Religions Initiatives (URI) at the Presidential Villa. This is just as the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting did not hold.

Leadership Newspapers reports:

Although no reason was given for why the council meeting did not take place, LEADERSHIP learnt that it may not be unconnected to the fact that the president had just arrived the country from Israel in the early hours of yesterday, where he had been since last Wednesday and engaged in a number of activities, and would need to rest.

At the presentation of the award, President Jonathan noted that there was no way any meaningful economic development could take place in a country where its citizens had resorted to settling their differences by fighting.

“Even when countries are fighting, at the end of the day, they still come to the dialogue table to resolve. They have hardly solved any crisis through the barrel of the gun. Even if they had the most sophisticated weapons to fight with, they would still come to negotiate, otherwise you can never live in peace. So let me call on all Nigerians, especially the young people. If you come to the south part of this country you hear about militancy, kidnapping and if you go to the North, you have this issue of Boko Haram.

“For us to develop our country we must all embrace peace. There is no way the government can perform magic when the people are shooting guns, because economic growth and development is in the hands of the private sector,” the president said.

Jonathan noted that it was because of this that the African Union (AU) as well as the Economic Communities of West African States (ECOWAS) became interested in helping African States to achieve peace, even as he added that African nations share the belief that the they must help each other govern their countries.

He dedicated the award to all Nigerians, saying he would not relent in doing that which would enhance peace and guarantee political stability in Nigeria, as economic growth, development and stability are tied to political stability.

He further said, “We will continue to do our best. For me as an individual, I will continue to play my role in spite of the challenges. Let me use this unique opportunity to call on all Nigerians and all the people of the world to embrace peace. You cannot talk about development when you are fighting.”

The regional director of URI, Ambassador Mussie Hailu, who presented the award to President Jonathan explained that it was in recognition of his immense contributions to religious harmony in Nigeria, as well as peacekeeping operations under the United Nations.

Noting that the award was a non- monetary honour for people who had distinguished themselves and exhibited exceptional leadership qualities, he added that previous recipients of the award included former president of Mozambique, Joaquin Chissano, Girma Woldegiorgis of Ethiopia, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso amongst others.

“We have been following with great interest the great role the president plays in his country, West Africa and Africa as a whole since he took up office as president of Nigeria. We commend his leadership qualities in the West African sub-region in particular as ECOWAS Chairman and also laud the current transformation agenda of his administration,” he stated.

Album review: Testing Ice Prince’s ‘Fire of Zamani’

Panshak ‘Ice Prince’ Zamani, a certified ‘Jos Boy’, marked a milestone with his single “Oleku” in 2010 but before that, he had done several collaborations and literally graced huge stages with his self-proclaimed mentor, M.I Abaga. Most music aficionados knew Ice’ was a time bomb. A “Superstar” to look out for.

The album, ‘Fire of Zamani’ was preceded with three singles: “Aboki”, “More” (August 28, 2012) and “Gimme Dat”. After some time, Ice Prince released the remix of “Aboki” featuring Sarkodie, M.I, Khuli Chana, Wizkid and Mercy Johnson. The final cut of the album released on October 28, 2013 housed 18 songs, which were produced by three beat chefs – Sammy Gyang, Don Jazzy and Chopstix.

For people that paid close attention to Ice Prince’s ‘E.L.I’ album (2011), you’d agree that ‘F.O.Z’ is an extension and an upgrade of that vibe. From the “Starts and Lights” of the album, we hear Ruby Gyang reppin’ for the Loopy Gang; there’s a “Skit” rendition by MC Longs, ushering everybody into what the “Aboki” embeds in his second album.

If this was the story of “My Life”, Chip have “Mercy”, it would be best told with a bottle of “Whiskey” and cups on the table; we will have a Sunny Nneji soundtrack, playing like Nollywood. We’ll make sure we don’t use the “N Word” because this could spell trouble. Some “Tipsy” fellas like Wale and Morell won’t like it and they won’t care if Don Jazzy is on the same table. If everything goes well, we will turn up and go “Jambo” and when we’re done, we’d tell each other “No Die Tomorrow” because that’s exactly what the blood sucking politicians are wishing Nigerians.

Wait! Before we continue, “Gimme Dat” lighter, Burna Boy, Yung L and Olamide need it, and if you refuse, there’ll be “Komotion” – Wizkid say so.

“I Swear”, if this album is about the ‘Fire of Zamani’, then French
Montana didn’t come with a match-stick. The song would have sounded better with another *“Person Wey Sabi”*. No disrespect, but the dude was dry. Thank God, M.I and Jesse Jagz came with some *“Kpako”* to heat up the ‘FIRE’ and we’ll all agree that it is safer to kiss and not tell. Many ladies “Pray” to have a guy like Sound Sultan; he’d love them for free. A guy like Ice Prince could be asking for *“More”* than they can offer.

At the end of this story or album as the case may be, I go “On My Knees” with Jeremiah Gyang, hoping readers understand that ‘FIRE OF ZAMANI’ is not just a display of songs for an album sake; this album is about good music, great production and topnotch mastering. It’s an album for everybody like ‘E.L.I’, it’s about growth, success and an artiste, a superstar that may never be forgotten in years to come.

Photo: Woman caught with dead day old baby in sack in Lagos

A 40-year old widow named Mujidat was caught yesterday Wednesday October 30th with a dead day old baby she hid inside a sack around her residence at at the Iba area of Lagos, PM News reports.

It was gathered that a member of the community, High Chief Babatunde Balogun caught the mother of seven when she was trying to dispose the baby at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday. When questioned on the content of the sack, she claimed she was coming from the market where she bought some household items.
However, on a closer look, Balogun discovered that the sack contained a dead day old baby the woman allegedly had just delivered. He then called the attention of the other residents. Neighbours told P.M News that after Mujidat’s husband known as Baba Mushin died about three years ago, they have seen men visiting her residence, the house built by her late husband.
When asked if she planned to throw away the baby because of an alleged paternity mess, she denied, claiming that a welder turned block maker near her residence was responsible for the pregnancy that resulted in the birth of the dead baby she was caught with.

She claimed she took delivery of the baby by herself because she found it easy and therefore did not go to any hospital or sought anybody’s help.

At about 9 p.m yesterday when P.M.NEWS visited the area, residents of the area were still milling around the residence of the woman.

Officials of the Community Development Association, CDA, in the area later accompanied the woman and her sack of baby to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division where the matter was reported. At the time of this report, the woman was still being interrogated.

OPEN LETTER : Michelle Obama Responds To Kanye West's Recent Comments

Kanye West recently spoke to Ryan Seacrest about a number of things. Here's one of the things he said HERE about how Kim Kardashian is more influential than Michelle Obama.
Well, below is a reporter Rembert Browne imagined Michelle Obama's response to Kanye.

Dear Kanye,
Hi, it's Michelle. Michelle Obama, Barack's wife. Barack Obama, the President of the United States of America.
That makes me the First Lady of the United States of America. Me = Michelle Obama.
I hope all is well.
You know, Kanye, I woke up this morning. In the White House. And one of my aides told me she had something to show me. Something that would make me laugh. A "cute" thing, if you will.
It was a series of quotes, Kanye. About my husband and me. About my Vogue magazine cover. And fashion. And classism.
They were your quotes. You were the cute thing, Kanye. And my aide was right. It did make me laugh. Oh, what a hearty White House laugh it was.
Keep my name out your mouth, ya heard.
Tell me, Kanye, what's your goal with this? Why us? Are you still mad about my husband calling you a jackass a few times? Is that why you're focusing on me instead of on all the other women who have been on the cover of Vogue?
That's what this is all about, isn't it? You're out here all mad simply because we're stylin' on you? I know Barack never did apologize for the name-calling, because you know how you men are with your stubbornness.
But it's more than that. It's bigger than fashion. To you, this has become a couple vs. couple thing.
I once overheard some of our summer interns talking about you — about how mad you get when you're compared to other rappers, because your peers are Jesus and Jobs and Walt Disney. I heard it and actually respected that. It shows you have some drive to be a great man. You should fight to get your respect. I see my husband, the President of the Free World, get disrespected every day. And it tears me apart.
So you have to understand where I'm coming from when I say it's laughable for my 21-year marriage to be mentioned on the same website as your thing with Kim.
Imagine if someone compared you to Papoose, Kanye. Well, you're Barack's Papoose. And yes, Kim is my Remy Ma.
My husband's not moving our family out the country so you can't see where we stay. Because he runs the country, you see.
And, again, we live in the White House. Very visible.
Look, Kanye, I'm a fan. You had me the second you brought along Uncle Charlie Wilson, and there's no turning back. I don't think you're crazy at all, and in fact fully think you're saying things that other people are scared to articulate. And, of course, Chicago will always bring us together.
Knowing that, never think that I'm not from Chicago for one second. Barack may be from Hawaii, but I will always be from that 312.
As a woman who loves fashion but never sought to be an iconic figure of some sort, I understand where you're coming from. And your frustrations. You're both deeply embedded in fashion, you and Kim, and daring to match, with the man skirts and silly string bikinis. I hear you even have a little pop-up store next to hers that sells nice Confederate flags.
And there's me, a semi-conservative dresser with my fashion not at the center of my life, and somehow I still ended up on the Vogue cover. And, to make matters worse, I didn't even ask.
They came to me. And get this, I actually had to think about it.
But next time, Kanye, if we can agree to squash this, I will decline and tell them to ask Kim. Will that make you happy? Will that end classism? Will the inclusion of your born-rich future wife break down the walls that my trailblazing old-ladyness seeks to build up? Just let me know.
Because, at the end of the day, who really needs to be on the cover of Vogue for a third time?
In the meantime, there's always Terry Richardson.
Jackass.
Send my love to Kim and baby Nori.
—Michelle

'There's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue. She's like the most intriguing woman right now. She's got Barbara Walters calling her like everyday,' he said.

Because at a certain point she just knows I'm going to do something turnt up. So she was expecting something awesome.'

'I just thought of it. It seemed so all-American. I just love being American, you know, and I love you know, family ... I feel so blessed.
'I feel God gave me exactly what I wanted, I have to do the right thing in God's eyes. Just follow what God really wants me to do it will come tenfold by doing the right thing.'

About their daughter he said:

'I hang out with my girl [Kim] and my daughter every day. No place I'd rather be. Not even when I'm thinking about things I'm creating in business, my biggest goal is to get home to family.

'I want to figure out a way to do my work and be my daughter's soccer coach. I'm going to be a soccer coach and redesign their uniforms. I'll redesign the mini van

Yes, of course! Nigeria is blessed with pretty babes. If you study me well, you will observe that I am a very romantic guy, at the same time, I am very emotional. I definitely have someone that I love so much.
In the industry or out of the industry?
(Pause for seconds) In the industry, I have someone I really love so much.
Who is the lucky lady?
(Pauses again) Chidinma. She’s really attractive. I really love her so much, but we’ve not really had time to chat closely, except when we met at backstage during shows. I hope she will read this, for her to know that Peeshaun of Skuki loves her.

6 Top Rules For Every Single Lady Who Desires A Relationship!!!

Dear ladies, do you desire a great relationship? Then, you should follow these tips.

1. Be a goal-getter! Get something to do! Be responsible! There is nothing ssexier than a smart and confident woman!

2. There is no prince charming – but you can make one out of your man.

3. You can lure a guy into a relationship with s*x; you can turn 360 degrees in bed and do different types of ‘gymnastics’ to please him, but you can’t keep him forever with s*x! Once he is tired of you, he would move on.
4. Don’t go fantasizing about the kind of love you watch in movies; they are make-believe. A high percentage does not happen in reality.
5. A man sees you the way you see yourself, therefore do not look down on yourself. Never think low of yourself, but then be humble.
6. Stop jumping from one club to the other, stop portraying yourself as a club – addict! Even a bad guy wants to marry a good girl.
Sincerely,
admin

Our Negligence Is Killing Us – Omoni Oboli still very much angry over plane crash

OmonI OboliHer 13th wedding anniversary celebration couldn't stop her. Omoni Oboli is still very much angry that she lost a friend, Deji Falae and other Nigerians in the Associated airline plane crash.
Even as she celebrated Omoni managed to pen this down. She thinks Nigeria should have moved beyond plane crashes due to human errors, and if we come together as a Nation and move against people who consistently display incompetence in their jobs, Nigeria will be a better place.
I am Omoni Oboli, and I represent Naija!
I haven’t been this sad for a long time, owing to the passing away of a friend, Deji Falae. I can’t imagine that we still lose people in that manner. We have passed through this road of plane crashes and I thought it was a thing of the past, but here we are again. What’s wrong with us? Where did we begin to operate in this spirit of hatred for our own such that we end up killing ourselves.
Our negligence is not just an irresponsible act that we need to change but something that could cause the death of another human being. I’m just so saddened by this incident, because it could have happened to anyone. No one in his right mind would get on a plane if there was the least shadow of doubt to its airworthiness. That is why the passengers got on board.

There’s a process that an airplane must go through before it is cleared for take-off. Various experts, who have been paid to carry out several checks on the plane, put their expertise to work to ascertain the flight worthiness of the aircraft before it is given the all clear to fly. This process has been done by the same airline or airport staff on ground (not the minister, President or governor) trained in this duty for years, so that they can ensure the safety of the passengers, who have paid, and put their trust and their lives on the line, in the hands of the “able” experts to get on board the aircraft.
The unsuspecting passengers get on board without the slightest idea that some personal issues, incompetence or any other depraved excuses by the workers in charge that they may be able to concoct under the sun have made the aircraft their final coffin. I’m trying to paint a graphic picture of the senselessness, insensitivity to the conscience and wickedness of many people, who find time to blame the government, anyone or anything else for their irresponsible acts that have caused the death of the very people their competence was supposed to protect.
We should weep for our many acts of wickedness, which stem from our lacklustre attitude to work. The most appalling thing of all is that they also have the audacity to blame God for all their actions, calling it “an act of God.” Why would anyone call it that, when there was nothing that even remotely suggests that the plane crashed due to errors beyond human control. True to our Adamic nature, we blame God and every other thing but ourselves. If we all spoke with one voice against our neighbours who consistently displayed incompetence in their duties at work, knowing that the blind eye we turn today could lay the foundation for an unforeseen disaster tomorrow, we would begin to see the fruits of that attitude in our nation. This culture of “manage” has caused many of us to settle for the mediocre instead of demanding the excellence we deserve. A workman delivers a job that is distasteful to the eye and less functional for the purpose the job was made to achieve and asks you (the one who pays with his hard earned money) to “manage” it, because he doesn't want to be made to pay for his mistakes with his own money. This is a tragedy because the workman will never grow beyond that level of competence to achieve excellence in his chosen field.
The pilot of a plane has the duty to check his plane before he gives it the clearance to fly. He should not rely on his “super skills” to fly a plane that he thinks may be less flight worthy than it should. He shouldn’t use the lives of his passengers to test his skills. There are rules and regulations, and the people at the helm of affairs should ensure that they are strictly adhered to for the safety of the passengers.
Today, there are very few airlines operating in Nigeria, thank God! When are we going to wake up from our slumber and see that there should be few instead of many because safety should not be compromised and if only the few can deliver, then so be it.
Many businesses do not see the light of day solely because many complacent workers are there. They are quick to gather themselves into small groups within the office to talk about the one who has positioned himself to provide the very job that gives them the food they eat so that their mouths can curse them. How very sad! We talk behind our bosses instead of talking for our bosses. We spend their money to pretend that we follow their vision, all the while trying to see ways that we can do our own business, using their time, which they are paid for. There’s nothing wrong with doing your own business, but do it in your spare time
I can’t imagine going on set of a movie, after being paid, and then make up an excuse to go on another movie production because I want to make more money. That is stealing! We should be more diligent and learn to cherish our jobs. Look around you and see that many others are praying to have the job that you are showing contempt for.
You will be dearly missed, Deji Falae, and my condolence to the other passengers and crew on board the ill-fated aircraft. May this serve as a wake up call for Nigerians to begin the change towards a better future.

REVEALED:Funmi Iyanda finally explained why NTA shut down her show for interviewing a gay man

Exceptionally brilliant TV talk show host Funmi Iyanda has finally opened up about how Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) shut down her live shows after she interviewed openly gay Nigerian man, Bisi Alimi, on her popular breakfast show, New Dawn, in 2004.

I remember this story pretty well. After Bisi Alimi appeared on that show his life changed forever. He couldn't even return to UNILAG where he was a student at the time. He was forced to go into hiding and eventually relocated abroad. Read Funmi's story after the cut...

It’s a good thing my meddling mum took Musibau off his alcoholic dad just before that wretch of a father was sent to jail for raping a minor. My mother went missing a year later so I never saw Musibau again but that’s another story.

He was 15 but he looked 12, l was seven but l looked 10. People generally looked weird in my neighbourhood, but nobody thought anyone one weird – odd maybe but life was odd wasn’t it?

Musibau was the first to run into Miss John who spoke Queen’s English and walked like a girl. Everybody called him Miss John, I have no idea why. But we were interested in him because we needed to walk through his garden to climb into Baba Olugbo’s compound for the agbalumo tree.

Nobody dared walked through Baba Olugbo’s compound to get to that tree. He was a wealthy molue bus entrepreneur with seven wives, a distended, shirtless stomach, marijuana thickened growl and a fast horsewhip for clueless kids.

I had four older sisters and two younger brothers but I felt closest to Musibau perhaps because we had a shared tendency to get into trouble and a common dislike of Nureni. Nureni was crippled by childhood polio and so dragged himself around on his muscular torso except when he went to school wearing his leg braces and crutches, which made him vulnerable.

We did not like Nureni; he had a caustic tongue, a reptilian ability to wrestle you down then strangle you and was genius at maths. He was faster moving dragging himself than he was on his crutches. He hated those crutches but he really liked Mulika.

Mulika was one of the two daughters of Alhaji Abara whose two wives wore hijabs so you couldn’t tell one from the other. I of course could; Mulika’s mother was the one with the two Pelé on her cheeks, right above her haughty cheekbones. A stunning woman. I knew because I saw them in the women’s quarters every time I went to play with Mulika, who had inherited her mother’s looks.

We all loved Alhaji Abara because he had the best spread for breaking fasts at Ramadan. It didn’t matter whether you were Christian, Animist or Muslim. You could come break the fast on divine akara, even if you didn’t fast. He used to say only Allah sees the good heart. We all attended Koran classes because it was fun and then went to church on Sunday because of the music and dancing.

My mother didn’t mind us going to church and Koran classes, in fact she supplemented all that with occasional visits to seers and herbalists who read our signs and cleansed our aura. Everyone did that, even that nasty priggish Catholic Mama Uche who acted like she was the pope’s first cousin.

Miss John always pretended not to see us sneaking through his garden and jumping over Baba Olugbo’s fence to pluck some agbalumo. A few times, Baba Olugbo would see us and come running belly first, whip flaying but we always out ran him, Nureni in front and Mulika, scarf flapping, at the back.

We never got caught until the day Nureni came on those damn crutches that made him slow. Baba Olugbo caught Mulika by her scarf and I tripped over Nureni’s crutches.

We knew we were in hot soup because once Baba Olugbo finished whipping us, he’d hand us over to our respective parents each of whom would apply equal supplementary punishment. That meant my tough mother’s hour-long frog jumps, Alhaji’s half day Koran writing and Nureni’s aunty’s numbing, monotonous curses.

We didn’t mind the whipping so much, a few lashes, a couple of pain killers and we’d be back trying to get more agbalumo’s off that tree. Once you’ve been whipped, you don’t get whipped again on the same day for the same offence – even the adults had some sense.

So it was I laid on my back staring at Baba Olugbo’s protruding belly button, Nureni’s fast breathing in my ear, dreading the inevitable – when suddenly Miss John walked up.

Perhaps it was his Queen’s English or our lucky day but he gently took the whip off Baba Olugbo’s clenched wrist and laughingly told him he had asked us to get some of the ripe agablumo for him seeing as it was abundant.

Baba Olugbo did not want to look like a mingy old fart; he was after all a rich man with political ambition. He grudgingly let us go, and I swore to Nureni and Musibau later that I saw Miss John wink out of a kohl-lined eye.

I remembered this story recently when I was asked why I, as a straight celebrity, a word I dislike, I support Bisi Alimi and LGBT rights.

Nigeria of today seems completely homophobic, xenophobic and religiously polarized as though that is the way we always were.

This would be an incomplete narrative. The way we are today is a result of the political and economic breakdown of our country, a topic for another day. However the ensuing widening income gaps, extreme poverty, illiteracy and crime has encouraged distrust and exclusion at every level.

My sense of justice, fairness and rationality supersede any latent sense of social propriety. Gay rights, civil rights, religious rights, gender rights, child rights are human rights. Justice, equity and fairness are my idea of morality.

I was a little girl who grew up in the same neighbourhood as gay Miss John, Muslim cleric Alhaji Abara, disabled Nureni, Mulika in her headscarves and pious Catholic Igbo Mama Uche.

I saw differences in ethnicity; religion, gender, class and sexuality but these differences did not carry judgement. We lived together mostly harmoniously; any lack of harmony was on account of individual bad behaviour not genetic differences or lifestyle choices.

I miss that Nigeria. I guess in a way l still live in that Nigeria in my head.

And that was why in 2004 I risked my career to put Bisi on my sofa and conduct Nigeria’s first interview of an openly gay man on national television.

Bisi and I did pay a hefty price for that action, he more than myself.

Was it worth it? I’m afraid l have never had the luxury of absolute self-congratulations or flagellation. What I do know is, at that moment, it felt right. And every moment since then, it has felt right.

I do what feels right by a conscience conditioned by my justice-minded, meddling mother, a childhood experiencing the beauty of diversity and a belief in our common humanity.

Perhaps the childhood I speak about was a dream. If that is the case then that dream is my vision of the future to come for Nigeria.

REVEALED:14 year old boy rapes 9 year old girl to death in Ikorodu

Unbelievable sad story of how a teenage boy raped a 9yr old girl to death in the Ikorodu area of Lagos

The police in Lagos State have commenced investigation into how a nine-year-old girl died, after sustaining injuries caused by alleged consistent rape. According to police authorities, the deceased was raped over five times, by a 14-year-old student, Onyi Adimabua, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The father of the deceased, Simeon Jigo, told Punch Metro that Onyi is the son of the proprietor of the school his daughter attended. He said his daughter opened up about the rape when she started having medical problems. The 77-year-old man said his daughter died on October 3, 2013.
He said, “Up until my daughter’s death, she was a pupil of Fulfilled Greenland School, Ikorodu, and she was in primary three. One day, she came home and started complaining of pains around her vagina, stomach area. We rushed her to Ikorodu General Hospital.
“A doctor checked her and after conducting some tests on her, told us that my daughter had sustained medical complications due to forced sexual intercourse. I was alarmed by this; so, I had a private discussion with my daughter.
“She told me that it was her school proprietor’s son, Onyi, that had been raping her. The boy had threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about it.”
The indigene of Ondo State told PUNCH Metro that after initial treatments, he took his daughter to Arogbo in Ondo State to be taken care of but her condition continued to deteriorate.
A few days after the troubled father travelled to Ondo State, Onyi, accompanied by his parents, also travelled to Ondo State, to apologise to Jigo’s family. The girl, however, was said to have died that very day.
“On getting to the house where my daughter was, we discovered that she was dead. Onyi confessed that he had been raping my daughter prior to her death,’ Jigo said.
PUNCH Metro learnt that after the girl’s demise, irate youths in the area attempted to lynch the 14-year-old boy.
The bereaved father was said to have intervened and reported the matter to a nearby police station, where the teenager was held for safe keeping. The next morning, Onyi and his parents travelled back to Lagos.
The alleged rapist’s parents, in company with a chief in Ikorodu, reportedly visited Jigo when he returned to Lagos. The group were said to have pleaded that the bereaved father should not pursue the case but he refused.
Jigo said, “I went to the Ikorodu Police station to report the case but was surprised when the policemen on duty said I should not write any statement.  They only told me to write down my telephone number and said they would call me later.
“After waiting for many days without any call, I wrote a petition and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.”
It was however learnt that Onyi had been taken to his father’s hometown in Delta State thereby stalling police investigation.
The teenager’s parents,  however described the incident as the handiwork of the devil.
The 14-year-old boy’s father, Andrew Adimabua, said, “I trained that boy in the way of the Lord and expected so much from him. He has confessed to the act; there is nothing to hide. He told me that he learnt about sex by watching blue (pornographic) films.
“We are not hiding him and we will cooperate with the police. On the day the little girl died, he was beaten up and made to stay in the rain for hours. As a result, he contracted pneumonia so we sent him home for treatment. When he recovers, he’ll be taken to the police for questioning.”
Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, expressed shock at the development.
Braide said Onyi would be re-arrested in the course of investigation.
“It is appalling that a teenager could indulge in such act. The matter is under investigation and the culprit will be re-arrested.”

Chris Brown Goes Into Rehab For Anger Management

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, Chris Brown has just entered a rehab facility for anger management issues … presumably to deal with his temper problems and to blunt a possible prison sentence. Sources tell TMZ … Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, just dropped him off at a facility in Malibu. The move doesn't come a day too soon.

We’ve learned the L.A. County probation department is going full bore in its investigation to determine if Brown violated his probation in the Rihanna case by getting arrested in D.C over the weekend … after allegedly punching a guy in the nose.

Sources tell TMZ, Brown flew to L.A. after getting released from the D.C. jail and met with L.A. County Probation Department officials today.

We’re told it’s likely the Probation Department will determine that Brown violated his probation, and a judge could sentence him to as much as 4 years in prison.

Along with Geragos, we’re told his mom and GF Karrueche accompanied Chris to the facility.

The rehab move could show a measure of good faith and contrition.
